Something to Remember...

Time past is irreplaceable. Who knows what tomorrow will bring. But today, today is precious. Give yourself permission to enjoy today. Take a mental snow day. Do something that gives you pleasure.

Today I will spend time with that beautiful child of mine who is growing up so quickly that if I don't enjoy her now one day soon she won't want to hang out with her mom and I will have missed some good quality time.

Today I will also enjoy getting our place ready even more with my husband who works really hard for all of us.

Seems like today, if I stay in the moment will be a great one!

My Number One...

I'm getting so emotional these days. I know my daughter never checks my blog or views these posts when they feed to fb so I feel it's OK to post this.

I purchased these bracelets yesterday for each of us. I got them so she will see how much of my heart she really has.

I'm very nervous and still struggle to see how much I can love these two children E and I will have. I've been alone with Miss K for 9+ years and though I'm so excited to meet & hold L I've given so much of my heart to this little girl.

I've heard that your heart grows when you have more children. I really hope that is true and that your love for each child is different.

I also have a journal that I'm going to finish before she returns from camp this summer with memories of us both that she can cherish as well.

It's the little things to us that I think will make a big difference with the transition in our household.

4 Day Weekend...

Looking forward to the upcoming 4 day weekend with Miss K. Since the budget cuts with CA schools it seems that there are a lot more days of no school.

Tomorrow we are off to swim but who knows what the rest of the weekend will hold. Just looking forward to some more quality time with my favorite girl.

Looks like Mondays entry may have a recap of our weekend of fun or our weekend of rest. Taking it a day at a time these days.

Over & Over Again

Do you have any of those movies that you can just watch over & over again?

I noticed last night there are some that I can just go onto auto pilot and watch over and over. So far I notice Goodfellas, Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil, Steel Magnolias, My Girl, Back to the Future (all), The Painted Veil, and now add The Family Stone which probably isn't the best movie ever but still sucks me in.

It's funny I love foreign and independent films but these are just some movies I can't get enough of. I think we all have these movies! I'm going to continue to enjoy these. Why not they never get old to me and help me unwind and seem to come on TV when I need to just sit and do nothing.

Beyond Exhausted...The End is Near

I'm finding these days that I am beyond tired by noon. Take today for example, ran a couple errands and I was done for. Driving is even becoming super uncomfortable. My house is becoming a wreck (OK not really) but I'm slacking a bit.

I think that I'm not going to be doing much of anything for the next 4 weeks.

I know that I won't physically be driving to the valley until after the baby. Until then unless I'm driven I won't be going.

I've come to the point where I finally give in. I'm done for. Stick a fork in moi.

Looking forward to being a slacker & getting lots of naps in to prepare for the newborn & little girl adventures this summer. Lots of firsts all over again and lots of happiness with BOTH my kids.

Dogeared & The Wonderful Gifts...

E & I are attending a graduation get together for one of his employees this evening. I love the Dogeared line of jewelry and have and do own some myself. Now I say owned because I like a lot of their wish and other types of jewelry that say your wishes come true when the string finally breaks. I ended up getting this as a gift for the graduate.

The Pearls of beauty, love, friendship, joy, happiness & it's a beautiful little pearl on a black string with a clasp. Sweet and to the point. I do hope she enjoys the necklace.

My point of this blog is short & sweet. I love their jewelry line and now that I've been to their website I'm even more hooked! So if I have to buy you a gift and you're a lovely lady in my life guess where it may come from going forward...

Learning to Penny Pinch for The Greater Good...

I've been doing a lot of coupon clipping lately. Did you know there are so many $1.00 off coupons out there? I've been learning this lately.

Also, to go more Green in the home we joined The Soda Club to make our own sodas at home. You know all the sodas taste just like the name brand ones as well which is GREAT!

Another trick to saving I learned is that the Library has great movies that can be checked out for 48 hours. Also redbox is great for new releases that I cannot maybe find at the library and the great part is I always seem to get free rental codes.

So I've done these little things to save money and I'm trying to find other ways as well. Another thing I've done is made it that we are eating at home more. We don't need to eat out all the time. That was a big part of what we did on a weekly basis and that is very costly.

Finally, I know that learning to save is a process, I can't be hard on myself and I know that with practice it will (a) get easier and (b) will pay off in the end. There are goals over the next year for our growing family and if we waste money well then it delays those goals and we are ready to meet them and not delay them.

Looking forward...

to the upcoming year ahead. I'm going to be very busy trying new things, being a new mother again, being there for a soon to be 10 year old little girl.

This will give me the opportunity to grow as a person as well and step outside of my comfort zone.

I feel that everyone should step out of the comfort zone for awhile. You never know what you may find out there!

Flip Flops & Diet Coke

Rainy Day Entertainment

Is it just moi or aren't good classic movies the best on rainy days? I mean take a good thriller like the original Haunting where there is no gore but the feel of the movie can creep you out or take Mildred Pierce and the dysfunctional relationship between mother and daughter. Yes, on a lighter side Gone With the Wind or Take Her, She's Mine. Sure the movies don't have to be in Black & White but classics.

Today seems like it can be one of those days and I think I will give into it and enjoy it.

Five More Weeks...

Five more weeks until L arrives. That is all I'm blogging today. Sunday's should be my day of total rest. Sunday will be the countdown days for L's arrival.

Take the time...

to walk through the wet grass, enjoy the smell of the flowers on a neighbors home, call someone you haven't spoken to in some time, or just do something different. It's amazing what doing a little something different can do for ya!

Playing Tourist

When you live next to a touristy spot it's not like you frequent it often or ever for that matter. Yesterday though I was able to be a bit of a Tourist and walk Rodeo Drive with a good friend visiting from Michigan. Now mind you I have my Doc on Rodeo Drive but I park, go see him, and leave. There is no reason for me to hang out. I can also walk there if the spirit moves me (which I may do once L arrives)

Yesterday I did enter a few stores I'd never go into like bebe. Now that isn't a High End store like Cartier or Gucci but it was interesting. I felt so old in there at a whopping 34. I guess I'm really just a casual gal. I think I found one dress upstairs that I liked and even my friend noted she could see me in it. I even ended up getting a little something at Chanel and found out that even though Un Fleur still hasn't come out again that Beige smells almost like it...Had to step away from the shop as I didn't need to spend so much on perfume when I just got some but sadly I will be there when my perfume is out lol.

We ended our visit with lunch at Jack N Jills and it was nice to just sit, converse, and find out more about our lives at this moment. My friend brought another friend from home and it was nice to get to know her as well. It didn't feel awkward like it can when you meet someone new. It felt like I knew her.

So yes, I should be resting but sometimes a walk down a trendy street with a friend can be relaxing when you are really enjoying yourself.

Chats with my Grandmother

I didn't know my fathers birth mother until April of 2007. Since then I've grown to really care and love this women I haven't known for too long. What's been nice is that she lives in CA as well and just five hours from me. To some this may be quite a ways still but to me where the rest of my family is on the East Coast this is nothing. Just a beautiful drive up the coast to Almond Country as I like to put it.

I've started calling her weekly to just say hello and see how she is doing. It's nice to take time out of the day and see how a loved one is.

She's so open about her life, maybe this is where I get my Chatty Kathy stuff from. Yesterday we discussed her new dog, a poodle. I let her know we'd all look forward to meeting the poodle at the end of summer when we come up with the new baby.

I may not get to see her too often but I've made it a point to come up at least twice a year since I've met her. Before my dad found her all of my maternal and paternal grandparents had passed away. Luckily I had E's grandparents but it's nice to have my dads birth mother around. She's even younger than E's father which made her laugh when I told her so.

So that's my entry for today...enjoy the ones in your life whether you've had them forever or just for a short period of time. It's so worth it!

I heart Ballet

The hardest part of this pregnancy has been slowing down. OK Anemia sucks because you have no energy BUT I do miss me some Ballet! I can't wait to be able to get to the barre again and feel free! Ballet not only helped me to become more comfortable with myself but helped me to feel so at peace.

Looking forward to the end of July when I can attend my first class again and I'm hoping for sooner but I don't want to push it.

I think it's AMAZING I found something I just love to do because a lot of people never find anything they love!

Mani / Pedi Oh My...

In my attempt to relax I've noticed that I want to relax "NOW" not later. That being said I received a gift certificate to my nail place this past Mothers Day and I couldn't wait to use it so I didn't.

Yesterday, a whopping day later from receiving the certificate I had my mother join me and I went and got a super deluxe spa mani / pedi. Now sitting longer and getting more treatments than normal was really nice. I could do that weekly, really!

It was nice to spend time with my mother and we ended up having lunch at the Nordstrom Cafe. She really liked it and I like that they always let me get the kids meals there.

In closing for yesterday I realized that I need to know that just because I receive any type of certificate it doesn't mean I have to use it ASAP but that I can hold onto it and use it at some other time.

Until next time...

Family Camp

Tried to relax this past weekend but when you attend family camp, well you can't really relax. We did a lot of walking but we also met a lot of great families, enjoyed nature, and had no technology with us. Nice organic fun.

I don't really have much to say in this entry so I figure that some pictures from the camp will say what I would say about the fun that we had. Until tomorrow, enjoy the photos...

Yes, onsies for L were made. Organic cotton & Tye-dye = 2 more onsies when he's 6 months old.

Princess K enjoying the Zip-line yet again. She had a blast! I was told I could do the Zip-line but not the baby...too bad for me.

Nature = beauty

Again, more beauty

Art work throughout. Gotta love some family camp.

Since I'm Told To Rest...

Now that I've been told to rest for the remainder of my pregnancy I've accepted I need to come up with creative things to do. So I'm going to journal said rest and anything interesting to me via said blog that I've ignored and see if it gets me in the blogging mood again and to get me a bit more creative.

Yesterday began my "Adventures in Resting" and though it was hard I finished my CRAFTED yes crafted Mothers Day gifts and even made K her own tote as well.

I'd post the picture of what I did for my mom but she reads what I post so can't do that. To give an example of my craftiness, I posted the pic of the tote I did for my MIL. It took, washing, ironing, sewing, and blood (j/k) to get these totes done yesterday but I sat on my butt doing them. I even made one for Miss K.

I also got a surprise visit from a friend yesterday and a couple of phone calls I really needed. It ended up being a great day to start relaxing.

I WILL blog again Monday as today I'm off to a family weekend away with no cell phone reception where I will really be able to rest and take some amazing photos of family, friends, and the Malibu mountains.

Until Monday....
